Dr. Benjamin A. Jones

Nehemiah's Temple Senior Pastor
Benjamin A. Jones, PhD, was baptized and filled with the Holy Spirit in 1983 at Peoples Community Apostolic Church, under the Pastorate of Bishop Allan T. Justice and Bishop Adolphus Cast.  Four years later Dr. Jones acknowledged a call to the ministry. Subsequently, he and his family submitted to the leadership of Bishop Nemiah Smith and his successor Bishop Lambert Gates. Ordained by the Pentecostal Churches of the Apostolic Faith in 1992, Dr. Jones was led by God to found and pastor the Nehemiah’s Temple of the Apostolic Faith since its founding in 2009. In addition to his spiritual work he has worked in the field of substance use prevention, treatment, recovery and advocacy for 41 years and has been the President and CEO of the National Council on Alcoholism and Drug Dependence/Greater Detroit Area (NCADD/GDA) for 25 years.
 
He received his initial training from the Detroit Institute of Addiction Research and Training (DIART). Thereafter, he obtained his BA from Wayne State University, and a Master of Social Work degree from the University of Michigan. In September 2013, Dr. Jones earned his PhD in Human Services from Capella University. His dissertation research focus was “Spirituality as a Positive Predictor of Coping with Stress for People in Recovery from Alcohol and Other Drug Addiction.” He is also a graduate of the Detroit Chamber’s Leadership Detroit program, Class XXVIII.  
 
Dr. Jones also currently serves as District Elder and the Council Chairman for the Great Lakes Conference of the Pentocostal Churches of the Apostolic Faith (PCAF).
